1/2 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup butter
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 cups chocolate chips
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla; beat until just incorporated.
- In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add gradually to butter-sugar mixture, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Add chocolate chips. Portion into golf-ball-size dough balls and cover; chill or freeze for several hours or overnight.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper. Evenly space dough balls on baking sheets. Bake for 8 minutes (or longer), until the edges have started to brown. Remove from oven and leave the cookies on the baking sheet to cool for 5 minutes then transfer to cooling racks to cool completely.
